Immigration Attorney - Cornell Law School

Cornell Law School is seeking to hire an attorney to collaborate with and contribute to a new deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) project at Cornell Law School. The selected candidate will consult with DACA beneficiaries about their visa options. They will also advise employers, nonprofit organizations, law firms, and others on visa options for DACA beneficiaries. The selected candidate may also prepare and file various immigration applications for DACA recipients. Most of the work will be done in the San Francisco, California area.
This is a full-time position for a two-year term and is benefits eligible. Reappointment for an additional two-year term is possible based on performance and funding availability.
Anticipated start date for the position is January 2024.
The position may be conducted either in-person at Cornell Law School in Ithaca, NY or remotely in the San Francisco Bay area (pending university approval). Please note that New York convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for the position if the work is conducted outside of NYS. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working outside NYS.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a law degree (J.D.) and be admitted in good standing to a state bar. The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Superior analytical skills and an ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively.
- Self-motivation with the ability to take the initiative and follow through on projects to completion.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- A demonstrated commitment to immigration law.
- Experience in filing immigration petitions.

Pay Range:
$44,800.00 - $85,800.00

Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
