Position: Associate Immigration Attorney
We are seeking an Associate Immigration Attorney with a passion for helping people with 1-3 years of experience in Immigration Law. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas: family-based petitions, employment-based petitions, removal defense, asylum claims, and waivers, and immigration court. This position requires a self-sufficient attorney who can independently manage client matters and supervise paralegals, though recent law school graduates with clinical experience or clerkships Immigration Law are encourages to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Family petitions: Manage family-based immigration cases (I-130, I-485, I-601, etc.), including consular processing.
Employment petitions: Draft employment based non-immigrant and immigrant visa petitions (I-129, I-140, E1/E2, H1-B, O, P visas, EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, EW applications) including support letters, prevailing wage determinations, labor condition applications.
Asylum applications: Conduct thorough client interviews, draft and file asylum applications, and represent clients in hearings and interviews.
Removal proceedings: Defend clients in immigration court, prepare legal briefs, motions, and represent them in hearings. Advocate for relief such as cancellation of removal, asylum, and other defenses.
Waivers: Prepare waivers of inadmissibility (I-601, I-601A) and other forms of immigration relief.
Legal Research and Writing: Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings in Immigration Court as well as federal district courts (Writs of Mandamus and Declaratory Judgment).
Client Communications & Problem Solving: Meet with clients, provide strategic legal solutions, and manage expectations. Demonstrate the ability to consult with clients, identify legal options, and craft effective case strategies.
Direct Interaction with Government Agencies: Work directly with USCIS, ICE, and the U.S. Department of State on a range of immigration matters, ensuring efficient communication and case resolution.
Supervision & Team Management: Supervise paralegals assigned to your cases, ensuring quality and timely submission of applications and legal documents. Maintain case files and oversee staff support on case preparation.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
Active bar license in good standing (must specify jurisdiction).
At least 1-3 years of immigration law experience, though recent law school graduates with clinical experience or clerkship in immigration law encouraged to apply.
Experience with USCIS, ICE, and/or U.S. Department of State.
Ability to manage cases with minimal supervision and handle a large caseload.
Supervisory skills to manage and delegate work to paralegals.
Second language skills are preferred, but not required.
