Reporting to the Legal Director of the Illinois Innocence Project (IIP), the Senior Staff Attorney is responsible for direct case representation, working collaboratively with other IIP attorneys and maintaining an active statewide caseload litigating post-conviction claims of actual innocence. The Illinois Innocence Project Senior Staff Attorney manages a postconviction caseload, engaging in document acquisition and review; field investigation; fact and expert witness development; post-conviction innocence litigation; manages the work of investigators, staff and pro bono attorneys, undergraduate/law students in those cases and is based at the Project's main office on the UIS campus.
