Attorney IV (Employment Litigation) - one position: Responsible for primarily employment-related matters, highly complex civil litigation matters at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal court, discovery, motions, and working directly with department heads, commissioners, and members of the Mayor’s staff.
Attorney IV (Development Transactions) - two positions: Responsible for primarily development-related matters; negotiating, drafting, and reviewing real estate and finance agreements and documentation; providing legal representation and advice to City economic development, planning, and housing development entities/departments such as the St. Louis Development Corporation and Community Development Agency.
Graduation from a school of law approved by the American Bar Association; current membership in the Missouri Bar in good standing; plus seven years of either legal practice in the area of complex litigation, which includes all phases of trial and appellate work in state federal courts and the administrative review process.
The Civil Law Department for the City houses more than 50 lawyers and 25 support staff. The City Counselor serves as chief counsel to elected City officials, boards and commission, as well as departments and agencies – including the St. Louis Development Corporation, the Metropolitan Police Department, and Lambert International Airport.
