Job Description:
The Kuba Law Firm, P.C., an immigration law firm serving the immigrant community for over 60 years, is seeking an experienced, motivated, full-time immigration associate attorney to handle a variety of immigration matters.
Duties & Responsibilities
Represent clients in family based immigrant visa petitions.
Prepare and prosecute asylum matters.
Practice before the EOIR/Immigration Court including defensive proceedings, asylum and CAT applications, cancellation of removal and adjustment of status, prepare and prosecute waivers and prepare and prosecute motions to reopen, motions to reconsider and various other applications. Also, prepare motions and appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Represent clients in Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) matters in Family Court. Also, represent clients in various Family Court matters such as custody, visitation, guardianship and child support.
Assist in preparing and prosecuting Immigration Federal Court matters including Petitions for Review and Writs of Mandamuses
Assist in analyzing client matters and conduct legal research.
Provide applicable legal advice and counsel to clients on various issues related to a variety of immigration matters.
Basic Qualifications
Admitted to practice in the State of New York with 3-5 years of immigration law.
Experience in representing clients before EOIR and USCIS
Experience in legal research and writing, specifically, BIA Briefs, Motion to Reopen/Terminate, and Briefs before the US Court of Appeals
Strong communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Highly motivated, hardworking, with a strong commitment to personal growth and development.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word. Experience with Docketwise a plus.
Fluency on Spanish or French/Creole a plus, as well.
