The County Attorney serves as legal counsel to the Board of County Commissioners in addition to providing counsel and overseeing legal services to County elected officials, the County Manager, department and division heads, and appointed commissions, boards, and committees. With responsibility for managing the County Attorney’s office of 16 FTE and a budget of $2.6 million, the County Attorney has direct supervisory responsibility for 6 FTE. The position requires a Juris Doctorate and ten (10) years of progressively responsible legal experience, including local government legal experience is required. This experience must include at least three (3) years of high level supervisory, management, or administrative experience. Local government experience and experience advising governing boards is also required, as is an active license to practice law in Colorado. Admission to practice law in the District of Colorado and the 10th Circuit is preferred.
