GENERAL PURPOSE The Knowledge Management (KM) Attorney works with the Litigation practice to (i) develop a group knowledge development and sharing strategy, (ii) manage the group's creation and maintenance of its practice resource collection, (iii) educate the group in most effectively applying technology and KM best practices, (iv) promote adoption by the group of KM resources, and (v) facilitate other KM-related projects as needed. As a member of the KM team, the KM Attorney may be called upon to contribute to other KM and Technology department efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.
Knowledge Strategy - Assess the relevant knowledge needs, define and implement a plan to meet those needs, and establish mechanisms for regular review of the plan. - Capture feedback for continuous improvement of KM products and processes. - Stay informed about market trends and technology developments applicable to the practice group. - Collaborate with other attorneys and KM professionals on KM and innovation initiatives that span multiple practice groups.
KM Content Development and Management - Work with practice group committees and leadership to create and maintain a collection of practice-specific resources, such as templates, checklists, and other know-how, to facilitate knowledge reuse. - Identify, develop, test, and promote templates suitable for automation. - Develop workflows leveraging practice group resources and technologies to promote efficiency in common matter types. - Oversee KM projects delegated to associates and support staff. - Organize and curate practice sites on the firm intranet to promote and make accessible the highest value content.
Practice Group Outreach and Education - Provide ongoing individual and group lawyer and staff training on KM tools, resources, and best practices. - Be an ambassador for the adoption of KM-oriented technologies to better integrate technology into the practice. - Actively contribute to a culture of valuing and leveraging the firm's knowledge.
Practice Group Liaison and Concierge - Assist practitioners in locating practice-related internal and external knowledge resources and technologies. - Evaluate new and innovative KM and research tools and resources based on practice group needs. - Contribute to KM-related innovation projects for the practice.
TRAVEL This position may require limited travel.

Demonstrated ability to make decisions and resolve issues. - Ability to allocate resources to meet competing demands. - Ability to quickly learn new skills and technologies and apply existing knowledge to new problems. - Receptiveness to feedback and coaching; growth mindset. - Knowledge of legal concepts related to the business of the firm and the legal industry. - Knowledge of current legal technology trends and industry demands. - Fluency in standard MS Office applications and ability to quickly master new collaboration and similar software and tools. Knowledge of other Microsoft apps, including Power Apps, Power BI, and SharePoint is a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Law degree from an accredited law school and four or more years' experience practicing in a litigation practice is required. Successful track record in client services. Experience with knowledge management, project management and document assembly and collaboration technologies are a plus.
This position may be filled in Colorado or New York. These ranges are specific to Colorado and New York, depending on qualification and experience and may not be applicable to other locations. Colorado compensation range: $144,490 to $231,730 annually, New York compensation range: $168,160 to $268,880 annually.
