The University of Alabama System is receiving applications for the position of University Counsel. This is an on-site position based in Tuscaloosa on the campus of The University of Alabama (UA). Reporting directly to the UA Chief University Counsel, who reports to the General Counsel of The University of Alabama System, the University Counsel provides legal advice and services to UA and its affiliates.
Demonstrated success in effectively serving a broad, diverse and demanding clientele
Excellent legal research, analysis and problem-solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials
Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Alabama
A minimum of 2 years of relevant legal experience
Provides legal advice and counsel on a wide variety of practice areas spanning all of higher education law including, but not limited to, litigation, regulatory compliance, business transactions, and employment matters
Other duties as assigned
