The Firmwide Attorney Recruiting and Development Coordinator is responsible for working with the director, office administrators, attorneys, and staff at all levels to oversee and execute the firmwide attorney recruiting and development functions including law student and lateral associate hiring, judicial clerk hiring, firmwide summer program planning, and training and professional development.
The Firmwide Attorney Recruiting and Development Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys and staff in addition to fostering an atmosphere of cross-office collaboration, teamwork and continuous improvement.
This position reports directly to the Director of Attorney Recruiting and Development and will be resident in the Washington, DC office.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Attorney Recruiting
- Work with Office Administrators to oversee the recruitment of 2L and 1L students, including coordinating the firm’s fall recruiting process.
- Recommend and oversee firmwide pre-recruiting activities as well as on-campus events during the academic year.
- Recommend national and local schools for virtual/on-campus interviews and coordinate registration for interviews at those schools.
- Oversee and execute outreach efforts at national law schools to increase the firm's visibility.
- Monitor Attorney Recruiting Mailbox, including prescreening resumes and application materials.
- Coordinate and implement judicial clerkship hiring best practices.
- Produce recruiting materials specifically for clerkship hiring and student recruiting.
- Work with Office Administrators to manage and implement the timeline for planning and executing the summer associate program in all offices.
- Execute firmwide summer associate program planning and programming, including onboarding, orientation, training and event planning.
- Work with Office Administrators to develop and coordinate a uniform and effective approach to new hire onboarding, orientation and training across all offices.
- Coordinate the timeline for pre-arrival communications for fall associates, bar registration, relocation, and onboarding and orientation activities.
- Collaborate with Office Administrators to execute and ensure consistency in the firm's hiring practices and procedures in all offices.
- Assist with the firm’s DEI initiatives, including producing collateral and coordinating events and efforts with law schools and student affinity groups.
- Prepare and submit the NALP and Vault surveys, internal presentations, etc.
- Prepare recruiting statistics and other reports as needed.
- Coordinate the availability of all program information on firm intranet.
- Review and update recruiting and training and development policies as necessary.
- Plan and coordinate interviewer training programs and generate interviewer materials.
- Assist in development of firmwide recruiting and development budget and monitor spending relative to the approved budget.
- Assist with the lateral partner hiring process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Attorney Development
- Coordinate planning and delivery of attorney development training programs.
- Coordinate associate/Counsel performance management process.
- Prepare CLE applications as needed.
- Provide assistance with lateral attorney integration initiatives.
- Provide assistance with associate retention initiatives.
- Provide support with diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
General
- Collaborate with various business services departments to plan and implement innovative recruiting and development programming and events.
- Contribute to department projects and initiatives related to all aspects of attorney recruitment and development.
- Coordinate work in various recruiting-and development related computerized databases and programs.
Qualifications of this position include:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in a big law firm
- Diversity experience is a plus
- Proficiency in viRecruit, viEval and viLMS/CLE modules
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong proficiency in video conferencing platforms, including Zoom and WebEx
- Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and attorneys
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure
- Ability to manage multiple projects with specific deadlines and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner

Availability requirements:
Attendance Requirement
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the Firm’s sole discretion.
Regular Hours Requirement
Must be regularly available and willing to work at least 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week as the Firm determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Weekend and Holiday Requirement
Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as the Firm determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Travel Requirement
Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the Firm determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
