The City Attorney's Office is seeking an individual with oral advocacy, legal writing, organization skills, and who exhibits enthusiasm, judgment, intelligence, and legal ability to effectively represent the interests of the City of Riviera Beach.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Assists the City Attorney as legal counsel for the City in all municipal areas.

2.  Prepares written legal opinions and renders legal advice to City Council, boards,      committees and City departments.

3.  Interprets federal, state, county and City statutes, ordinances, charters, rules, regulations, court decisions, etc.

4.  Confers with and renders assistance to City departments in establishing departmental policies by developing and applying legal points and procedures; recommends changes in policies and procedures in order to meet legal requirements.

5. Attends meetings of the City Council, boards and committees to advise on legal matters.

6.  Conducts legal research as needed.

7.  Analyzes and reports proposed and enacted legislation.

8.  Maintains professional contact with other agencies as applicable.

9.  Performs other related duties as required.

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and four (4) years of professional paid legal experience, which three (3) years must have been in government law or areas of law relating to or involving government law issues.

A valid driver's license Class "E" is required at the time of appointment. 

Membership in the Florida Bar at the time of application is required.
