Are you an experienced, passionate and highly motivated Employee Benefits Attorney looking for an opportunity to take on new challenges and build a career within one of the leading U.S. financial services companies? If so, Equitable's Law Department has a new and exciting role within our Compliance Team! Reporting directly to Equitable's Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel, this role is generally responsible for the compliance needs of Equitable's Employee Benefits business. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to see and understand the business imperatives that are driving the need for legal and compliance advice and offer practical advice and solutions as our business continues to expand.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide legal and compliance support to Equitable's Employee Benefits business with a product offering that includes Group Term Life, Group Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, Group Dental, Group Vision.
Advise and provide compliance support to Employee Benefits' senior management related to new initiatives.
Advise and counsel Employee Benefits' senior management regarding existing processes and procedures.
Conduct periodic exams to test the efficacy of existing 1 st line management controls of the business.
Provide compliance support to Employee Benefits related to Network Monitoring requirements.
Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Legal Analysis: Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information.
Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

Juris Doctorate degree required.
Member in good standing of a State Bar Association required.
5+ years of experience in Employee Benefits compliance matters required.
Experience in major law firm or large in-house department desired (a combination is a plus).
Established drafting and negotiating skills required.
Ability to build relationships and effectively counsel across all levels of the organization.
Proven written/verbal communication skills and investigative/analytical/problem resolution skills required.
Demonstrated project management skills and ability to meet internal and external deadlines.
