The City Attorney’s Office Legal Team is experiencing growth and adding multiple positions to the Office. As a member of the City Attorney’s Office, you will report directly to the Corporate Division Chief, who is generally responsible for coordinating legal services for municipal operations and who in turn reports directly to the Deputy City Attorney. All attorneys for the City are hired by theCity Attorney/Chief Legal Officer and are exempt and at will to the City Attorney/Chief Legal Officer. This newly-created position will, in conjunction with one senior attorney and one paralegal, provide legal services to the Colorado Springs Airport, an enterprise of the City. The duties primarily include providing legal services related to the development of the Airport’s rapidly-expanding business park; lease drafting and negotiation, amendment to and termination of leases; review and preparation of permits and licenses for Airport facilities; advising Airport staff on legal issues and federal regulations applicable to the Airport and aviation matters; assist with construction contracts; review and approval of grant agreements and requirements; and advise Airport staff regarding insurance, marketing, advertising, real estate, land use, and zoning matters. This position will perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the CityAttorney/Chief Legal Officer, Deputy City Attorney, or Division Chief - Corporate. This position will support other attorneys on projects and assignments related to the Colorado Springs Airport, other Departments of the City, and other legal matters as may be assigned. Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform: Review, interpret, and advise clients regarding the applicability and impact of statutes, court decisions, and administrative rules and regulations. This position requires substantial knowledge of substantive law; the ability to analyze, interpret, and apply legal principles, facts, evidence, and legal precedent; computer proficiency; superior oral and written communication skills; superior research, interpersonal, and collaboration skills; and the ability to work as a successful member of a team of attorneys representing the City in all its functions are also required.
