Founded in 2014, Meltzer Hellrung has been growing quickly, expanding 75% in headcount between January of 2020 and January 2021. Today we have 24 employees. To continue our growth we are developing a proprietary software to make the immigration process easier for both our clients and our staff. About the Associate Attorney Role
A business immigration attorney helps companies secure visas and green cards for foreign national employees. Our clients range from individual entrepreneurs to Fortune 500 companies. It will take a new attorney 2-3 years to master introductory concepts and a lifetime to perfect the practice.
The attorney is fundamentally responsible for helping clients to make strategic decisions in hiring employees, determining what visas to apply for, and the best way to secure those benefits. The attorney works closely with other attorneys and paralegals to prepare and review petitions to the USCIS, Department of Labor, CBP, and Department of State.
The job is fast moving as an attorney may touch 10-15 matters per day. A significant part of the job is responding to communication from clients by email and phone.
The focus areas of the position are:
Prepare nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions with USCIS, CBP, and DOS
Draft RFE responses
Assist with all employment-based immigration cases as assigned by attorneys
Respond to client and foreign national communication
Assist with assigned administrative and account management tasks
Salary and Benefits
Salary, Depends on Experience
Bonus as an associate: up to 10% per year, depending on firm profits. The firm’s bonus structure changes as you grow in the position. As you manage more clients, you will move to a bonus structure based on a percentage of the work managed.
Commission structure, based on the time each client is with the firm.
