Serves as legislative liaison for the Department and helps coordinate the Department's administrative rulemaking. Performs beginning level legal work for the Department; performs related work as required.
Serves as the Department's liaison to the legislature, helps coordinate legislative drafting and responses to questions from the legislature.
Helps the Department coordinate its administrative rulemaking, assists in rule drafting, rule editing, and serves as the liaison to the legislatures' Administrative Rules Review committee.
Performs legal research and drafts legislation, rules, orders, and other legal documents.
Assists in the development of policy guidance for taxpayers.
Responds to requests for information or data by performing research and gathering data from various sources. Assists with other tax-policy related studies, projects, and research requests as assigned.
Works closely with the Director and the Policy Bureau of the Department.
Provides legal advice and opinions to senior attorneys, the Director, and other divisions within the Department.
Prepares letters, memoranda, and legal documents to analyze, clarify, or explain laws and rules for Department employees, other Executive branch agencies, state legislators, and federal authorities.
Analyzes various sources including current state and federal law and court decisions. Identifies potential conflicts with existing federal or state laws and policy by researching existing policy and law.
Must pass a criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting, and be in compliance with Iowa tax filing requirements and willing to participate in the E-verify process.
354 Law Degree Possession of a law degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must have graduated from an accredited school of law to qualify for positions in this job classification.
