Thisposition is part of the Office of the General Counsel which represents TheUniversity of Tennessee, a statewide system of public higher education. Theposition will be based in Memphis where the University's Health Science Centeris located, but responsibilities may involve service to all campuses andinstitutes in the University system. This position will primarily beresponsible for defending the University in litigation arising at the HealthScience Center, including healthcare liability, other torts, breach ofcontract, and student and employee issues. This position may also assist withresponding to complaints made to administrative agencies, and handling othermatters related to the Health Science Center. The incumbent is expected tohandle all aspects of litigation, including acting as lead trial counsel andusually will be the only attorney assigned to a matter.
