Job Summary: THIS POSITION WILL SERVE THE POPULATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT RIVERSIDE, IN RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA AND WILL BE PHYSICALLY BASED ON-CAMPUS AT UC RIVERSIDE.
Under direction of higher-level professional, work with University of California Immigrant Legal Services Center attorneys and staff to serve the immigration related needs of UC students and their immediate family members at the University of California at Riverside. Assist the student population in navigating the immigration system and provide legal assistance. collaborating with on- and off-campus organizations. Be able to conduct 'know your rights', and other informational presentations when needed. Onboard and supervise student interns at UC Riverside. Maintain up-to-date notes and records for internal and external reports.
Perform review, research, and analysis on immigration issues. Perform legal screening consultations to determine eligibility for affirmative immigration relief. Represent clients at administrative proceedings and engage in administrative advocacy. Engage in campus outreach by collaborating with on- and off-campus organizations. Be able to conduct 'know your rights', and other informational presentations when needed. Onboard and supervise student interns at UC Riverside. Maintain up-to-date notes and records for internal and external reports.
Physical Demands: Work at a computer for extended periods of time.
Work Environment: -Position is based at UC Riverside in Riverside, CA.
-Work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
-Valid driver's license (vehicle not required).
-Position will entail travel to other UC campuses or elsewhere.

Minimum Qualifications: -J.D. degree. -Member of a State Bar. -Proficiency in Spanish. -At least 4-5 years of practical experience in immigration law practice, including removal defense with experience in the intersection of criminal and immigration law, affirmative family-based immigration relief, SIJS, U-Visa, VAWA, adjustment of status, and DACA. -Experience working with low-income communities and immigrants. -Knowledge of legal and non-legal electronic databases to sufficiently support preparation of complex documents. -Interpersonal and communications skills to work closely with Center Staff, program participants, and staff and counsel at DHS, and to state ideas clearly and concisely. -Skills to solicit pertinent information, research multiple sources, and distill large amounts of information. -Experience using writing, editing and proofreading skills to write complex documents, and draft and create legal documents clearly, logically, and precisely with close attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications: -Member of the California bar. -Familiarity with UC policies and procedures.
