Job Summary: Is accountable for carrying out an assigned ASHP work project. Has responsibility for recommending and/or selecting the most effective methods and/or protocol to use in the delivery of ASHP projects. Assists the Assistant General Counsel with legal assignments related to the ASHP Corporation and affiliated ASHP Research and Education Foundation. The role includes the review, negotiation and development of contracts, legal documents and other matters related to the activities, programs and publications of the organization.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Determines work priorities, policies and operating procedures.
Interacts with others to advise on and/or facilitate the execution of ASHP’s programmatic and/or operational initiatives.
Assists the Assistant General Counsel and General Counsel with legal assignments related to the ASHP Corporation and affiliated ASHP Research and Education Foundation. This includes, but is not limited to, the review, negotiation and development of contracts, legal documents and other matters related to the activities, programs and publications of the organization.
Reviews state and federal laws and regulations that impact the ASHP’s corporation and nonprofit status.
Conducts research on legal issues affecting ASHP and the Foundation and drafts legal memoranda for the Assistant General Counsel and General Counsel.
Oversees trademark application and renewal processes and provides copyright and intellectual property protection advice.
Participates in various ASHP staff meetings and committees as assigned. Provides legal support on employment matters.
Addresses routine legal inquiries from staff and members. Assists staff in interpreting laws and maintains an electronic database, to serves as an organization-wide legal resource.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a minimum of a degree plus a working knowledge of the theories and principles of a relevant field or discipline in pharmacy, business or association management.
Requires a law degree and state bar membership.
Requires a minimum of three years of prior related work experience.
