Eagan Immigration is a busy, innovative immigration firm looking to hire an experienced attorney to join our Bellevue, WA team. We handle removal defense cases, U visas, T visas, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) cases, affirmative asylum, adjustment of status, Special Immigration Juvenile Status (SIJS) with custody determination hearings, and employment-based cases. Our primary client base consists of Central Americans, so fluency in Spanish is a must.
Eagan Immigration strives to maintain a supportive, family-like environment, with an emphasis on helping its staff and attorneys learn and grow. Candidate will be responsible for managing his or her own caseload, in addition to reviewing the work of less-experienced staff and attorneys. Candidate will be responsible for supporting and training newer attorneys when necessary.
Eagan Immigration maintains “virtual offices,” and staff and attorneys are given the option to work from home when not in court or meeting with clients. Attorneys and staff are given the flexibility to create their own hours, so long as they are able to meet their obligations in court and with client and team meetings.
File immigrant and nonimmigrant petitions and applications before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (including T visas, U visas, I-130 petitions, I-601A waivers, I-485 adjustment of status, VAWA, etc.);
File and argue motions in immigration court;
File for relief and represent clients at merits hearings in immigration court (cancellation of removal, asylum, etc.);
Prepare appeals before the Board of immigration Appeals and at the Circuit Court level;
Consult with prospective clients and evaluate their claims for relief or the availability of immigration benefits;
Effectively educate clients on their rights and provide appropriate warnings;
Communicate and respond to clients’ questions and concerns in timely manner;
Manage and review the work of less experienced attorneys and staff;
Conduct trainings for less experienced attorneys and staff.
Fully Bilingual in Spanish and English (verbal and written);
1+ years experience working in immigration law;
Experience with removal defense, asylum (affirmative and defensive), U visas, T visas, and waivers;
B.A. or B.S.;
J.D. from ABA accredited law school;
License to practice law in any US State or territory, Active and in Good Standing; preferably WA;
Experience in skillfully managing projects in a fast-paced environment;
Excellent writing skills, with samples to share;
Experience performing legal research;
Creative thinker and problem solver;
Basic Google Drive and technological literacy.
