This is a full time, permanent position within the Office. The current vacancy is in the Sentencing Unit of the Victim, Witness and Community Services Division. The attorney will advise prosecuting attorneys on immigration issues as they relate to criminal and juvenile cases. The attorney will coordinate and advise on the Office response to other collateral matters such as applications for Pardons, Commutations of Sentences, Expungements and U-Visa/T-Visa certifications as well as stay apprised of current sentencing trends and policy and cover sentencing calendars, expungement calendars, as well as contested probation violation and restitution hearings. The attorney will provide in-house training and participate in some outreach to the community. This position may also assist with other related work within the Victim, Witness and Community Services Division.
Three years of experience as a practicing attorney is required, a minimum of two years of experience as an immigration attorney practicing in removal and asylum matters is preferred. Experience practicing criminal law is helpful.
