The work involved relates to all aspects of servicing client files, from intake to conclusion. The successful candidate must have a strong work ethic, the ability to multi-task, be able to meet deadlines, friendly manners, and be reliable and self-motivated. The ideal candidate should be able to show a demonstrated interest in corporate and business immigration law. The chosen candidate must be able to work independently and be confident in providing legal advice to clients. Strong interpersonal skills, high ethical standards and the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
The ideal candidate must be able to utilize knowledge of US immigration law regulations and procedures to prepare filings such as TN, L-1, H-1B, J-1, O-1 and E-1 and E-2, Consular and Immigrant Visa Processing as well as I-140 petitions (EB-1, EB-2, EB-3), PERMs and related I-485 adjustment of status applications. While not essential, the ideal candidate also has some knowledge of Canadian immigration law, regulations and procedures to prepare filings for Work Permits (T23, T24, C12, C10, C20, T43, etc), Study Permits, Labour Market Impact Assessments, Permanent Residence Applications (Express Entry, Immigrant Nominee Programs, etc.) and Citizenship.
The candidate must have the ability to prepare applications from initial correspondence through to successful completion of processing.
Completion of a US and/or Canadian Law Degree is required. The candidate must be a member in good standing with a US State Bar and/or a Canadian provincial or territorial Law Society. Licensure in both the US and Canada is considered a significant asset. Minimum two to four (2-4) years of Canadian and/or US Immigration experience is required.
Pre-existing authorization to work in Canada is considered a significant asset although assistance in obtaining a Canadian work permit can be made available.
