The RWJBarnabas Health Legal Department has another exciting growth position for a self-motivated independent-minded individual to join our growing System and Legal Department. RWJ Barnabas Health is a growing diverse and sophisticated health care organization which is expanding in multiple areas. Contract-related legal services to support this growth are a core function of the Legal Department. The Generalist Contracting Attorney will provide legal guidance and support on contracts and contract related transactions in multiple disciplines from throughout the System. The position will have exposure to a broad range of clients and will report to the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel. The successful applicant will:
Review, negotiate, draft, and provide legal advice on contracts and topics from a wide range of disciplines within the System, including Supply Chain, clinical research, financial transactions, information technology, management services, 340B, real estate and equipment leases, construction agreements, marketing and promotion, consulting, and other commercial transactions and contracts;
Provide advice and support on contract terminations and disputes, contract restructurings, and contract administration;
In consultation with the General Counsel and various clients develop procedures and protocols to streamline the System's contracting function;
Counsel on a broad range of general healthcare topics and where required provide support and assistance to the physician contracting function;
Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations impacting healthcare contracting, including state and federal fraud and abuse, contract, and reimbursement and an ability to research new areas of the law as they arise.

Education & Qualifications:
Excellent academic credentials and Juris Doctorate degree from a nationally recognized law school.
Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and eligibility for admission to the New Jersey bar as in-house counsel.
Minimum of 5 years of experience at either a top law firm and/or in the legal department of a large organization.
Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal healthcare laws, rules and regulations.
Experience in a health care related law firm or legal department of a sophisticated health care organization is preferred but not required.
